Alternatives For Girls
Join us on Saturday June 11, 2016 for “Grit, Glam, and Guts… The Power of Your Legacy” Teen Conference at Alternatives for Girls in Detroit.
Grit, Glam, & Guts has the goal of helping 100 teen girls, ages 12-14 and 15-18, develop a healthy self-identity, establish unity, and sisterhood among the next generation of women and also recognize and engage in the power of youth voice.
Speakers & organizations from across the Detroit area will facilitate interactive and engaging workshops that tackle social and emotional issues of identity and lay of solid foundation of why sisterhood & knowing your power as a young person is essential to the success of individuals, families, and communities. Through interactive workshops, activities, and skits, young women will be empowered with practical tools to grow them professionally, intellectually, and emotionally. This year’s conference is specifically focused on revealing the power of a legacy, whether it is left behind through families, city officials, or the next generation of Flint youth. We want students to know the power they have to effectuate change through their voice.
